Shooting + Frolicking Around the Silver Lake Sand Dunes — Mears, MI
There is no natural playground quite like sand dunes. As a Michigander, I feel extremely lucky to have accessible sand dunes in my state that I can visit any day! I visited the Silver Lake Sand Dunes for a shoot recently. These lovely sand dunes were formed thousands of years ago, when glaciers receded and left behind large deposits of sand during the last Ice Age. The Silver Lake Sand Dunes span around 2,000 acres and located on the western shore of Michigan, on Lake Michigan; these natural wonders are a photographer’s dream! This unique and captivating landscape offers tourists and locals many activities, such as off-roading, hiking, swimming, boating, camping, photography, and more.
I hadn’t executed a photoshoot at the Silver Lake Sand Dunes in Mears for almost two years, but Kameryn (@kam.cornell) and I made it happen! We met at the dunes around mid-morning, hiked up them, and started creating pure magic together! We walked over to an area that had less footprints than the rest of the dunes, and got right to work! I can’t say enough good things about Kameryn as a model and co-creative!
Be sure to visit the Silver Lake Sand Dunes in Mears if you want to take photos in an otherworldly atmosphere!
